Victory Soccer Team Plays Hira School Team

The conditions were perfect on Friday for playing soccer. The Victory School Soccer Team travelled to Hira School to play their first away game. The players enjoyed the journey out to Hira School as the sea, mountains and inlet looked beautiful in the bright winter sun. The herd of cows also made a big impression. The nerves and excitement, turned into smiles as we caught a sight of a huge sign welcoming us to their school. The little country school provided a warm and friendly welcome.

Players on both sides cautiously eyed each other as they warmed up. The teachers enjoyed the opportunity to catch up. The crowd swelled as the whole school came out to watch the game. The sub bench filled up and the seven players found their positions.

The first half was a frantic affair with Victory taking the initiative. Both teams held their structure well and had lots of shots on goal. A very pleasing aspect of the half was Victory's passing and patience in an attacking position. Hira made some good breaks and communicated well.

Here is Biak Tha closely supported by Bawi Cung just moments before she slots the ball in the back of the net.

As the second half started it was obvious that Hira had gone up a gear. There attack converged upon Victory's goal numerous times and were very unlucky not to score. Victory constructed two nice goals in the second half to win the game 7-0. More importantly both teams played competitive soccer with a real respect for fair play. It is great to watch a game in which the referees are hardly needed.

Hira hot on attack.

The Victory Team really enjoyed the experience of travelling to Hira School to play soccer. Many of the players talked positively about the other team and the whole experience on the way back to school. I know that Victory would like to host their new friends in the future and look forward to seeing them at the six-a-side competition.

Whenua Iti Adventure

My Whenua Iti outdoor adventure

On Monday 28th March room 15 went to the activites at Whenua iti outdoor centre with the bus and I was excited. It was long drive and it was too noisy because the engine was noisy. We hopped off the bus and left our bags by the wall.

First we played warm up game and that was my favourite game. Next they put us in a team and Matt was my leader. We played swing onto
platform and it was so fun and funny but difficult challenging. Next we went on the big see-saw and I was a bit scared and Mr Head help me. We went on the wire rope and I hurt my leg but I never gave up.
Then we had our morning tea. After we had our morning tea we went to the giant skis.

It was too hard because we had to walked ((left and right)) until we touch the tree. I was a real challenged at our team work. After that we played with the hoop to beat in 11 seconds. Later on we had a relay race it was too hard because we had to swirl round and round. We had our lunch by the wall. I was very hungry because the morning was hard work. I sat down with my friend. After we had eaten we had a little play.

After lunch I went on the flying kiore tower. I saw a roof and lots of trees and it was very scary. My team had to pull me up high. I was so nervous but afterward I felt proud because I never gave up. It was other people turn and I had to help other to pull. That was the hardest work.

Finally it was time to go back to school and I got really tired. It was so fun going to Whenua iti outdoor centre because we tried hard and helping each other, was amazing. My favourite part was swing onto platform.
